Donations made through FutureFunder.ca are charitable gifts to Carleton University and, in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines for registered charities, cannot be refunded at the donor’s request once the transaction has been processed and a charitable tax receipt has been issued.

Once a donation is made, the university is committed to using the funds as described, in support of its charitable purposes.

If a gift has been made in error to the incorrect fund, please contact advancement@carleton.ca as soon as possible so that we can ensure your donation is directed to your intended area of support.

Project Funding and Reallocations

If a specific FutureFunder project does not reach its stated fundraising goal, or if funds raised exceed the project’s needs, Carleton University will reallocate the remaining or excess funds to a related priority or to the general fund in the same area of interest. For example, if a specific Student Aid project doesn’t reach its goal, the gifts will be directed toward the general Student Aid Fund.

In the rare circumstance that a project cannot be completed as described, or if it becomes impossible to use the funds for the stated purpose, Carleton University will apply the funds to a related purpose that aligns as closely as possible with the donor’s original intent.

Thank you for your generous support—your gift makes a direct impact on students, research, and the university community.
