Thanks to the collective generosity of the Carleton community, more than $330,000 was raised in just 24 hours on Giving Tuesday. From the first 50 gifts made at midnight to the final contribution at 11:57 PM, the day was truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who supported initiatives that advance teaching and learning, research and community action, making a difference well beyond our campus. 

Please note: The winners for the remaining challenges will be announced on December 11. All winners will also be contacted directly by University Advancement. 

GIVING TUESDAY CHALLENGES (funding generously provided by the Carleton University Alumni Association):

START THE MOVEMENT: FIRST THREE GIFTS AT MIDNIGHT AND FIRST THREE GIFTS AT NOON WIN ADDITIONAL FUNDING 

The perfect excuse to stay up to the wee hours indulging in some binge-worthy Netflix (or set an alarm for us early risers)! Get your fingers ready to make one of the first three gifts at midnight, or one of the first three gifts at noon and the campaign/fund you supported will receive an additional $1000 in funding. *A minimum donation of $10.00 is required to be eligible. Each campaign/fund is eligible to win this challenge a maximum of one time.

SHOW YOUR FACULTY PRIDE: MAKE THE FIRST GIFT TO A FACULTY AT THE RESERVED TIMES BELOW 

This challenge is an opportunity to show your pride for a faculty on campus that is meaningful to you! Make the first gift to an initiative within that respective faculty at the time listed below, and you can win an additional $1000 to the campaign/fund that received the donation. 

8:00 AM: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
9:00 AM: Faculty of Engineering and Design
10:00 AM: Faculty of Public and Global Affairs
11:00 AM: Faculty of Science
1:00 PM: Sprott School of Business 

SPREAD THE RAVENS SPIRIT: FIRST DONATION TO A UNIVERSITY-WIDE INITIATIVE @ 2 PM 

The first gift made at 2:00 PM to any initiative that is not part of one of the five faculties above will win an additional $2000 in funding for the campaign/fund that received the donation. This is an opportunity to create a broad impact by supporting university-wide projects through the MacOdrum Library, Carleton Athletics, Student Experience Office, and much more. *A minimum donation of $5.00 is required to be eligible. 

GO GLOBAL: GIFT FROM THE FURTHEST DISTANCE TO CARLETON UNIVERSITY 

It’s time to round up your colleagues, friends, and family around the world! The project or giving fund with the donation coming from the furthest distance to Carleton University will win an additional $2000 in funding for the campaign/giving fund that they donated to. 

FIRST DONATION TO CARLETON UNIVERSITY 

By making your first donation through Carleton University, you are joining a community of donors who are passionate about the causes they support. All new donors on Giving Tuesday will be entered into a draw to win one of five prizes of $500 in additional funding towards the initiative that received your first donation. 

RALLY TOGETHER, RAVENS: DONATIONS FROM CARLETON ALUMNI 

Now is the time to show your spirit as a proud Carleton Raven! All donations from Carleton alumni will be entered into a draw to win additional matching funds for the campaign/fund that was supported! We will be giving away a first-place prize of $1000, second place of $500, and third place of $250. 

STAY CONNECTED: DONATIONS FROM ALUMNI WHO GRADUATED WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS 

You can stay connected to Carleton University by supporting an initiative that was important to you as a student! All alumni donors who graduated within the last 5 years will be entered into a draw to win one of three prizes of $500 in additional funding for the campaign/fund that you supported. 

DONATIONS FROM FACULTY, STAFF AND RETIREES 

As faculty, staff, or retirees at Carleton University, you have directly witnessed the impacts that donations have on students and researchers who are leading meaningful initiatives on campus. As integral members of our community, each donation you make on Giving Tuesday will enter you in a draw to win one of three prizes of an additional $500 in funding towards the campaign/fund you supported.
