Save the date for December 3 as our community comes together to celebrate Giving Tuesday for the 12th consecutive year. This year, there will be a total of $100,000 in matching incentive funds available through our Giving Tuesday Challenges. This includes challenges that donors have vied to win over the years—such as first gifts at midnight, first gifts at noon, and furthest gift from Carleton—along with new and exciting ones listed below. We hope you will join us in spreading the spirit of philanthropy by making a gift through FutureFunder.ca towards a cause that is meaningful to you.
GIVING TUESDAY CHALLENGES:
START THE MOVEMENT: FIRST THREE GIFTS AT MIDNIGHT AND FIRST THREE GIFTS AT NOON WIN ADDITIONAL FUNDING
The perfect excuse to stay up to the wee hours indulging in some binge-worthy Netflix (or set an alarm for us early risers)! Get your fingers ready to make one of the first three gifts at midnight, or one of the first three gifts at noon and the campaign/fund you supported will receive an additional $2000 in funding. *A minimum donation of $5.00 is required to be eligible. Each campaign/fund is eligible to win this challenge a maximum of one time.
Please note: The winners for the above challenge will be announced on Giving Tuesday, and the winners for the remaining challenges will be announced on December 11. All winners will also be contacted directly by University Advancement.
HIGHEST NUMBER OF DONORS EACH HOUR
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy, and this challenge helps keep the excitement going from 12:00 AM up to 11:59 PM! During all 24 hours of Giving Tuesday, the campaign/fund that received the highest number of donations each hour from individual donors will receive an additional $1000 in funding. All campaigns/funds are eligible to win this challenge up to 24 times throughout the day. *A minimum donation of $5.00 is required to be eligible, and while individual donors may make multiple gifts as part of this challenge throughout the day, only one gift made by an individual donor per hour will be counted.
HIGHEST NUMBER OF OVERALL DONORS ON GIVING TUESDAY
Now is the time to rally together your network of supporters! The five funds/campaigns that had the highest number of individual donors make a gift on Giving Tuesday will each win an additional $5000 in funding.
SHOW YOUR FACULTY PRIDE: MAKE THE FIRST GIFT TO A FACULTY AT THE RESERVED TIMES BELOW
This challenge is an opportunity to show your pride for a faculty on campus that is meaningful to you! Make the first gift to an initiative within that respective faculty at the time listed below, and you can win an additional $2000 to the campaign/fund that received the donation.
8:00 AM: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
9:00 AM: Faculty of Engineering and Design
10:00 AM: Faculty of Public Affairs
11:00 AM: Faculty of Science
1:00 PM: Sprott School of Business
SPREAD THE RAVENS SPIRIT: DONATIONS TO UNIVERSITY-WIDE INITIATIVES
The first gift made at 2:00 PM to any initiative that is not part of one of the five faculties above will win an additional $3500 in funding for the campaign/fund that received the donation. This is an opportunity to create a broad impact by supporting university-wide projects through the MacOdrum Library, Carleton Athletics, Student Experience Office, and much more. *A minimum donation of $5.00 is required to be eligible.
GO GLOBAL: GIFT FROM THE FURTHEST DISTANCE TO CARLETON UNIVERSITY
It’s time to round up your colleagues, friends, and family around the world! The project or giving fund with the donation coming from the furthest distance to Carleton University will win additional funding for the campaign/giving fund that they donated to.
EXTEND YOUR IMPACT THROUGH A MONTHLY DONATION
Your monthly donation through Carleton University sustains meaningful initiatives for years to come. All donors who sign up for a recurring monthly donation on Giving Tuesday will be entered to win one of five prizes of an additional $1000 in funding for the campaign/fund you supported.
FIRST DONATION TO CARLETON UNIVERSITY
By making your first donation through Carleton University, you are joining a community of donors who are passionate about the causes they support. All new donors on Giving Tuesday will be entered into a draw to win one of five prizes of $1000 in additional funding towards the initiative that received your first donation.
RALLY TOGETHER, RAVENS: DONATIONS FROM CARLETON ALUMNI
Now is the time to show your spirit as a proud Carleton Raven! All donations from Carleton alumni will be entered into a draw to win additional matching funds for the campaign/fund that was supported! We will be giving away a first-place prize of $2000, second place of $1500, and third place of $1000.
STAY CONNECTED: DONATIONS FROM ALUMNI WHO GRADUATED WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS
You can stay connected to Carleton University by supporting an initiative that was important to you as a student! All alumni donors who graduated within the last 5 years will be entered into a draw to win one of three prizes of $1000 in additional funding for the campaign/fund that you supported.
DONATIONS FROM FACULTY, STAFF AND RETIREES
As faculty, staff, or retirees at Carleton University, you have directly witnessed the impacts that donations have on students and researchers who are leading meaningful initiatives on campus. As integral members of our community, each donation you make on Giving Tuesday will enter you in a draw to win one of five prizes of an additional $1000 in funding towards the campaign/fund you supported.
