CUAG is a vital cultural hub on the Carleton University campus, connecting art, ideas and communities. The gallery has long been committed to creating hands-on learning opportunities for students, including as public programmers, curators, collection managers, researchers, educators, writers, and event producers.
Established through the generosity of Dr. Marion (Mame) Jackson, this fund reflects her combined passions for contemporary art, community engagement and pedagogical innovation. It will help CUAG create initiatives that build capacity in students by providing them with invaluable opportunities for art-based professional development.
Dr. Jackson is Professor Emerita of Art History at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. From 1991-95, she was Associate Professor of Art History at Carleton University, where her research specialty in contemporary Inuit art contributed richly to Carleton’s program in Indigenous Canadian art.
