Value $5000. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Director of the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies to an outstanding full-time, full year student enrolled in the third or fourth-year majoring or minoring in Women’s and gender Studies at Carleton University. Recipients must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada. Preference will be given to a female student. Established in 2009 by the Canadian Federation of University Women/Ottawa, in honour of all members of the Club since 1910. Dr. Bell was club president from 1968-70, national president of the Canadian Federation of University Women from 1973-76, IFUW Convenor of Membership Standards 1974-80, IFUW Convenor for Status of Women and Cultural Affairs 1980-86, and was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1981. Dr. Bell was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Carleton University in 1984. She received the Governor General Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case in 2005. Revised 2016, 2017.
