Professor Paul Straznicky joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1989. He has inspired thousands of students over the years and continues to teach as Professor Emeritus. It was professor Straznicky who brought the fourth-year final capstone project concept to life within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Carleton’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering combines classroom study with practical hands-on experience and works closely with industry leaders. Its undergraduate and graduate programs are second to none in Canada, and are highly regarded internationally.
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering alumni support the Paul and Liba Straznicky Scholarship in honour of Professor Paul Straznicky’s 20-year teaching career, and in recognition of the commitment he and his wife Liba have demonstrated toward Carleton University’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students.
The scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding full-time undergraduate student in either third or fourth year of a bachelor of engineering program in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership ability and studying aerospace engineering in Stream A, B or C. Endowed in 2015 by Paul and Liba Straznicky.
