Awarded annually to an outstanding student entering or proceeding from one year to another in the Bachelor of Engineering, Software Engineering program.  Preference will be given to students who identify as women.  Endowed in 2020 by family, friends and colleagues in memory of Monisha Gunalan BEng/2016.

On January 2, 2020, the world lost a beautiful person – Monisha Gunalan.

Monisha obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Software Engineering from Carleton University in 2016.  She was a bright and dedicated student, and graduated with High Distinction. After graduating, she started her career as a software developer with Flick Software and then joined the You.i TV software company in Ottawa, Ontario in November 2016.

Monisha was an avid supporter of women and girls in STEM, took advantage of opportunities to volunteer with women and girls interested in engineering through You.i TV community outreach programming and was a mentor at children’s summer camps.

To honour her memory, this scholarship has been created at Carleton University.  Funds are being raised by Monisha’s family, friends and You.i TV to help encourage and make an impact on other women in the program. On behalf of Monisha’s family, friends and everyone at You.i TV we ask you to join us in supporting this new endowed scholarship in her memory.
