Awarded annually, by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, to the graduate student in the Master’s program in Journalism who has achieved the highest final grade in the Print Journalism Laboratory (course # JOUR 5200). The highest final grade will be as calculated at the end of the recipient’s first year. The recipient will be selected by the Director of the School of Journalism and Communication on the recommendation of the Supervisor of Graduate Studies (Journalism). Endowed in 2005 by the Donner Canadian Foundation in honour of Martin Newland, first deputy editor of the National Post.
