Manan Shah earned his Bachelor of Arts in Honours Law and Legal Studies from Carleton University in 2019, before completing Law School. Manan was a firm believer in continuing education and his journey was characterized by academic drive, a vibrant spirit, and a profound dedication to legal studies. Beyond the lecture halls, Manan’s commitment extended to community service, embodying the values of determination, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the world at large. During his time at Carleton, he was involved in the Law and Legal Society, captained the undergraduate mooting team, and pursued several volunteer roles both at the University and in the city of Ottawa. Manan passed away just a few months after convocation from Law School in 2023.

The Manan Shah Memorial Scholarship was established by friends and family in his honour to celebrate his legacy and to recognize outstanding undergraduate students who are committed to advancing the causes he cared about as members of the Department of Law and Legal Studies.

Valued at $1,000, the Manan Shah Scholarship will be awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Law and Legal Studies to an outstanding undergraduate student continuing in a Bachelor of Arts in Law. Eligible recipients will be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and must demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism related to the law.  Application is required.  Established in 2023 by friends and family of Manan Shah BAHons/19.
