Hunsdeep Singh Rangar was recognizable from afar for his infectious smile, unending wit and charming original humour. He touched an endless number of people and brought smiles to each one during his short but fulfilling life.

Hunsdeep was a son, husband, father, brother, public servant, entrepreneur, radio show host with CHIN 97.9 FM multicultural radio and organizer of Ottawa’s annual South Asian Fest.

Hunsdeep “Huns” was only 43 when he passed away of a heart attack on June 7, 2019.

Describing himself as being “made in India and packaged in Canada,” his legacy lives on with every beat of music that plays on Ottawa’s airways.

To honour his memory, a fund has been established at Carleton University, to name the Undergraduate Clubs and Societies room in the new Nicol Building. It will celebrate his ethos of promoting harmony among communities and preservation of their traditions as they weave their way into Canada’s multicultural fabric.
