This fund was established in 1990 by friends, co-workers, and relatives of the late Hendrika Alice Eisen, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology who was working in the interdisciplinary area of computer interface design. In memory of the interdisciplinary nature of her interests and the high regard she had for the annual conference in computer-human interactions (CHI) presented by the Special Interest Group SIGCHI of the Association of Computing Machinery, this fund is to assist graduate students interested in attending this annual conference. Application for assistance with travel or accommodations can be made to the office of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. Preference will be given to students presenting posters or papers at CHI and who are acting as student volunteers at the conference. The award is open to students from any discipline who are interested in attending the CHI conference.
