Born and raised in Belleville, Ontario – Gordon and Kennon Donovan were the parents of alumnus Andrew Donovan BA/88. Gordon worked for more than 40 years as a railroader with the Canadian National Railway and Kennon as a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years at the Belleville General Hospital. Both worked tirelessly to afford to send all four of their children (Glenn, Andrew, Margaret-Mary and Patrick) to university and college and instilled to each the value of hard work and sacrifice.
The bursary was endowed in 2004 in honour of Andrew’s parents and is awarded annually to deserving undergraduate students in any program of study at Carleton University. Recipients will have demonstrated financial need, must be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants or protected persons), and must also meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements.”
