This fund will support journalism scholars and practitioners with an innovative research project. Researchers may apply from within Canada and abroad. Successful candidates may choose to work out of the school as researchers and will have the support of the School to investigate their project and work towards a concrete outcome.

The current journalist-in-residence will be working on a collaborative project with Maclean’s magazine and J-Schools Canada on a journalistic endeavour to write an obituary for every Canadian victim of COVID-19. We believe this historic project will serve as an important, lasting tribute to the Canadians who lost their lives to this pandemic. The scholar will spearhead the project by liaising with faculty at each of the partner institutions on the project and with editorial staff at Maclean’s.
