As a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Elizabeth Dwivedi was an individual who touched the lives of everyone she met. Whether she was supporting close friends as they navigated life or assisting fellow Carleton students with their theses during her studies at Carleton University, she built lifelong connections that continue to be fondly valued decades later.

An avid reader and conversationalist, Elizabeth’s memory lives on through The Elizabeth Dwivedi Memorial Bursary at Carleton University, which provides financial support to female students who, like her, have a deep appreciation for English literature. Her passion for the English language extended into both her personal and professional life, beginning with volunteer work in W.E. Gowling School’s ESL program in the 1980s before she went on to work as a freelance English editor and tutor.

Her aspirations led her to attend Carleton University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English in 1990, followed by a Master of Arts in English in 1994. Her dedication to helping others along their academic journeys continued throughout her career as the undergraduate administrator for Carleton’s School of Journalism and Communication, where she supported students until her retirement in 2013.

Your contribution will help continue Elizabeth’s legacy as a compassionate individual committed to lifelong learning, while encouraging students to share her joy in reading and connecting with others through stories.
