This endowment funds a collection of bursaries endowed by Ed Ireland:

Ed Ireland Bursaries for Student Athletes
Awarded annually to student athletes proceeding from one year to another in any program of study at Carleton University for the following interuniversity Varsity Teams: Men’s Basketball (2009), Men’s Hockey (2009), Men’s Soccer (2017), Women’s Basketball (2009), Women’s Hockey (2010), Women’s Soccer (2010), Women’s Water Polo (2009). Eligible students must be listed on an USports/OUA Eligibility Certificate as members of a Carleton University interuniversity sports team and comply with USports and OUA academic eligibility requirements. Recipients will have demonstrated financial need, must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (landed immigrant or protected person), and must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements. The selection will be made upon the recommendation of the Athletics Awards Committee. Two students per team will be selected for a total of 14 students per year. Endowed in 2008 by Ed Ireland. Ed Ireland Student Bursaries
Awarded annually to deserving students proceeding from year to another. Two students (for a total of 10 students per year) will be selected from each of the following areas; College of Humanities (2009), Human Rights (2009), Electronics (2009) – doing research work in the area of silicon-based optical sensors, the Attendants Service Program (2009), and students with disabilities registered with the Paul Menton Centre (2009). Recipients will have demonstrated financial need, must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (landed immigrant or protected person), and must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements. Should a recipient be a graduate student, the bursary will be awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. Endowed in 2008 by Ed Ireland. Revised 2009. Revised 2011. Ed Ireland High Performance Athlete Bursaries
Awarded annually, when merited, to one male and one female undergraduate student proceeding from one year to another in any program of study at Carleton University who is recognized by his/her national sport organization as a current national team member or development athlete. Recipients will have demonstrated financial need, must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants or protected persons) and must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements. In the event there are no qualified candidates, high performing Carleton University interuniversity sport team athletes will be considered. The selection will be made upon the recommendation of the Athletics Awards Committee. Endowed in 2009 by Ed Ireland. Revised 2011.
