Under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Economics, the Student Experience Fund will enhance student learning through research and engaged interactions with experts, policymakers, and practitioners. The goal is to prepare the next generation of diverse leaders equipped to address the economic challenges facing Canada.

The Student Experience Fund will facilitate faculty and student research collaborations, allowing them to learn from each other, exchange ideas, and undertake new research that demonstrates thought leadership. The fund will also bring high-profile national and international speakers to meet with students in person and virtually for the purpose of mentorship.

Coordinated by the Chair of the Department, the Student Experience Fund will support student experience initiatives for graduate students in Economics and our final-year undergraduate students in the B. ECON Program. Many of these opportunities are not part of a student’s degree requirements but are nonetheless very important in their development as economists and will enhance their overall learning experience at Carleton.

This fund will allow students to learn from each other and faculty in a less-structured, more collaborative format and provide access to national and international thought leaders who will challenge what is possible in Economics and help create leaders of tomorrow.
