Awarded annually by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs on the recommendation of the Director of the Institute of Political Economy, The Donna Coghill Scholarship will provide support to outstanding students entering or continuing in a graduate program in Political Economy, with consideration being given to students with financial need.

Endowed in 2021, the scholarship is being established on the occasion of Donna Coghill’s retirement in 2021 to honour her decades of service to Carleton, and especially to students in the Institute of Political Economy.

As the sole administrator of the Institute of Political Economy for more than twenty years, Donna served as the Institute’s heart and its historical memory, and was an indefatigable advocate for students.  Donna was always helping students navigate hurdles and anxieties, financial and otherwise.  In honour of her dedication to students, and of the life and love she poured into the program, the Institute and Donna’s family want to celebrate her legacy with this scholarship fund.
