Diego Eduardo, known as Edu, moved from Peru to the United States with his family, where he completed his high school education with outstanding academic performance, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA while simultaneously taking Advanced Placement (AP) college-level courses — a reflection of his exceptional discipline, intelligence, and dedication.

Alongside his academics, Eduardo was also a passionate and accomplished debater, having been part of debate teams both in Peru and in the United States. With Lone Peak High School, he advanced to the national debate finals, demonstrating not only intellectual rigor, but also his powerful voice, leadership, and commitment to respectful dialogue. After graduating, Eduardo continued his academic path at Carleton University, where he studied Political Science, with the clear goal of later pursuing law school at McGill University. He was a student with a brilliant academic record, known for his critical thinking and deep commitment to justice. His pursuit of law was not driven by ambition alone, but by a genuine desire to defend the vulnerable, challenge inequality, and help build a just and more compassionate world.

From a very early age, Eduardo showed a natural ability to connect with others, to listen, and to stand up for those who felt unseen or unheard. Beyond his academic achievements, his greatest legacy lives in the way he loved — without conditions, without fear, and without limits. He embraced diversity, advocated for minority rights, and carried a powerful message of empathy, inclusion, and respect. His legacy carries on through the family, friends and colleagues who were privileged enough to know him. Each life he touched continues to reflect his values, ensuring that his spirit of empathy, inclusion, and love endures.

Eduardo also reminds us of the deep importance of mental health awareness. His story calls us to listen more closely, to care more openly, and to support one another with greater compassion. Although his life was brief, his impact is enduring. His voice continues to inspire conversations about equality, mental health, and the importance of human dignity. This space exists not only to honour his memory, but to carry forward the light he shared with all of us — a reminder that every life matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and love is always stronger than fear.

The Eduardo Memorial Scholarship will continue to honour his legacy by providing an annual award to an outstanding undergraduate student entering or continuing in a Bachelor of Arts degree program in Political Science. Established in 2025 by friends and family in memory of Eduardo Rondón-Capurro a student in the BA Honours in Political Science with a minor in Law who passed away in late April 2025.
