Awarded annually by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs to, on the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty Public Affairs, in consultation with the lead academic associated with the Initiative for Modern Turkish Studies as appropriate, to an outstanding student from the Faculty of Public Affairs or the Sprott School of Business, to assist with the costs of travel and/or research in Turkey. Preference will be given to students with an interest in political history and political economy dimensions of bilateral relations focusing on energy, trade, development and humanitarian aid as well as cooperation in multilateral fora. Overall this gift is intended to provide opportunities for students who wish to enhance common values and ideals shared by Canada and Turkey as NATO allies. This gift is established in 2014, through the contribution of the Council of Turkish Canadians and the good offices of the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa, Canada.
