Carleton University Troitsky Bridge Building Team is a student group that provides opportunities to undergraduate engineering students to apply the concepts learned in their classes to a real world situation through competing in the annual Troitsky Bridge Building Competition held in Montreal. The competition allows students to compete in a nationwide competition improving their teamwork, analytical, and presentation skills in a positive environment.

At the competition they are tasked with building large bridge models (minimum 1m long) out of only wooden popsicle sticks, white glue, and dental floss. Teams present their bridges to a panel of industry professional judges, and the event finale is a crushing ceremony in which the University’s prove their spirit and bridge strength.

The funds secured from you help make the trip to Montreal possible. Every amount donated will go towards registration, travel, and spirit, offsetting the out of pocket costs of our team members, and ensuring success for our team. With the levels of inflation and the struggles that design teams have had coming out of the pandemic, registration costs have increased by more than 25% per person this year. As such, the out of pocket costs have drastically increased and without the help of fundraising and donations, many of our competitors may not be able to afford this years costs of the competition.

Every donation is critical to the development of our young engineering students and will hopefully help the bridges built achieve high rankings at the competition; the only thing stronger will be the bonds built among competitors.
