In September 2025, Carleton University will welcome its first intake of 110 undergraduate students to the newly established Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The program includes a compressed three-year, experiential learning-focused curriculum that will equip nurses to enter the healthcare sector faster. It will leverage Carleton’s strengths in related areas to provide hands-on training through simulation and extended reality technology, include rewarding clinical placements, and offer concentrations in Neuroscience & Mental Health and a first-of-its-kind Data Science in Nursing concentration.

The program’s focus on technology, training and mental health sets it apart and will create a one-of-a-kind teaching and learning experience within Canada: graduating nurses will be better prepared to meet the mental health needs of Canadians, equipped to use the latest technologies for improved health outcomes, and able to serve rural, remote and Indigenous communities.

Developed in partnership with Indigenous practitioners and scholars, the program will challenge the way we approach medicine and thoughtfully incorporate Indigenous was of knowing and healing into the curriculum. By integrating EDI and Indigenous perspectives into programming from the very beginning, we will strive to create nimble practitioners who can apply multiple medical models to meet the unique needs of diverse individuals.

Gifts to the Carleton University Nursing Priority Needs Fund will support the immediate needs of the program, as well as long-term planning. This may include enhancing experiential learning opportunities, supporting students and purchasing state-of-the-art equipment.
