Awarded annually to one or more senior undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Social Work who require financial assistance in order to continue or complete their studies at Carleton University. Recipients demonstrate financial need, be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrant or a protected person) and must also meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirement. Should the recipient be a graduate student, the bursary will be awarded by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Social Work. Endowed in 2006 by Linda Currie, family, friends and colleagues and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (Eastern Branch), in memory of Brian MacIntosh. Brian was a child protection worker at the Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry in Cornwall. He graduated from the Carleton University School of Social Work in 2003. He died in a boat accident in September 2003.
