The purpose of the CIE Access Endowment, founded by Allen B. Clarke, is to provide funding for operational requirements to support the Centre for Initiatives in Education (CIE) and its Students. At the outset funds will be used to fund tutors in the one-on-one tutoring program that will provide CIE students with assistance with literacy skills, exam preparation and study skills. As the annual income from the endowment increases, funds will support both the one-on-one tutoring program and peer mentoring program. Peer mentors attend classes with CIE students, assist in supporting CIE students academically, attend weekly educational sessions with students and provide social support to new students in the university setting.
