Awarded annually by the Vice-Provost, Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean of Engineering and Design to a graduate student enrolled in any Engineering program at Carleton University. If no suitable candidate is found in engineering, a graduate student enrolled in a STEM program should be considered. Preference will be given to students who identify as women. Recipients must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Established in 1995 by the Canadian Federation of University Women-Ottawa, in honour of Alice E. Wilson, F.R.S.C., a paleontologist with the Geological Survey of Canada, and a charter member of the Canadian Federation of University Women-Ottawa when it was founded in 1910.
