Awarded annually, when merited, to provide support for deserving students engaged in undergraduate or graduate thesis research in Earth Sciences that involves field-based research of fundamental unsolved problems within Precambrian regions of Canada. Eligible students may apply to the Chair of Earth Sciences and must be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrant or a protected person), must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements and also demonstrate financial need. Endowed in 1996 by Professor Donaldson, in the year of this retirement from full-time teaching at Carleton University, to encourage continuation of research in his principal area of geological research.
