Overview
The Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Environmental Engineering (OCIENE) holds a biannual seminar where graduate students from both Carleton and the University of Ottawa compete in a presentation competition. The prize awarded to the winner has been recently renamed in memory of Ronald Droste, a Professor at the University of Ottawa and the champion for the institute and for collaboration between the two Universities.
The Background
The prizes to be awarded at this competition go to the best of our students, and will help continue to foster this important collaboration between Carleton and the University of Ottawa. This collaboration was very important to Professor Droste, whom we honour with this award.
The Rollout
The funds received will go directly to the student prizes awarded at the biannual OCIENE Seminar Series.
The Impact
Honouring the desire of the Professor Droste for the success of this joint program between Carleton and the University of Ottawa, these awards will raise the profile of these events, to which we hope to attract more community involvement over time. A more vibrant seminar series will provide a wonderful networking opportunity for all participating students to showcase their abilities to potential employers.
