Overview
The Carleton Ravens Ringette team is a competitive club that has championed women and girls in sport for over 12 years. Ringette is a sport similar to hockey in the way of what is required to play at the competitive level: equipment, ice rental, tournament expenses, etc. Suffice to say, it can also be financially inaccessible. These barriers are sometimes the reason that many girls quit playing once they reach university age. By supporting the team, you are helping to ensure more students can continue playing the sport throughout their post-secondary journey.
The Background
As costs continue to rise for the team’s expenses, including tournament fees and ice/facility rentals, our team is struggling to keep up financially. While we have hosted many successful fundraisers to help alleviate these costs, we are seeking donations to ensure the sustainability of our team, both now and into the future. Your contributions will be integral in alleviating financial barriers for our players who often have to choose between academics, employment or sport.
Invented in eastern Ontario, ringette was founded by a man whose daughters weren’t allowed to play hockey, so he came up with a similar game just for girls to give them as close to an equal opportunity as possible. This sport has always been about supporting women & girls, supporting our right to compete and to become the athletes that inspire younger generations. Supporters like you help make this possible!
The Rollout
The funds will go towards covering mandatory expenses so that we can maintain an accessible team fee for our players. Your donations will support growing costs including tournament registration fees, rink rental prices and equipment. Your contribution will have an instrumental impact in alleviating financial barriers to ultimately elevate the success of the team.
The Impact
The impact we hope to generate from this campaign is one that will encourage female student athletes to continue their athletic prosperity while successfully pursuing their academic goals. We all play better when we feel the most supported and uplifted, and to be able to alleviate some financial stressors for our players will help them feel their best and do their best in all aspects of their lives. Your support reinforces how valuable girls and women in sport are to so many people, and our goal is for younger girls to not have to choose between pursing post-secondary studies or playing their favourite sport.
