Overview
The Carleton University Retirees’ Association (CURA) Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship encourages future leaders to begin their educational and professional journeys at Carleton. Choosing the venue for one’s undergraduate education is a critical first step and this scholarship improves Carleton’s capacity to recruit future changemakers. It builds on CURA’s long and proud history of supporting individual students, as well as advancing our institution’s educational mission. The endowed CURA Scholarship will be open to all domestic students who are scholarship-eligible and who have received an offer of admission to a Carleton undergraduate program.
We have secured 40% of the $25,000 required for an endowed scholarship, with $3,000 already gifted as a kick-starter to this fundraising campaign and an additional $7,000 pledge that will be unlocked by matching donations. And as a reminder, 100% of all donations will be invested in the Scholarship’s endowment that will generate awards in perpetuity, and you will receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation. The Rollout
Once endowed, the CURA Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding domestic student entering a full-time degree program at Carleton University. All students commencing their undergraduate career at Carleton will be eligible and an application will not be required. Carleton’s Admissions and Awards Offices will be responsible for awarding the Scholarship, either as a stand-alone scholarship or in tandem with other incentives to attract the highest calibre undergraduate students to Carleton.
The Impact
This Scholarship will assist the qualified student at the onset of their academic and professional career. It will ease the financial burden incurred by many students and improve the likelihood of success in their inaugural year as well as enhance prospects for longer-term academic and professional success. Carleton will also benefit. Competition for the highest calibre undergraduate students continues to ramp up and the CURA Entrance Scholarship will enhance Carleton’s advantage to attract students in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
