Ravens Synchronized Swimming Club

The Rundown

We are the Ravens Synchronized Swimming Club – a competitive sports team that competes nationally in the Canadian University Synchronized Swimming League (CUSSL).

Our club was founded in 2012, and over 4 short years we have provided an athletic outlet for our dedicated swimmers and we continue to expand our competitive and novice streams.

Throughout our season, we compete across Canada for three different competitions. This year we are raising funds to be able to travel as a unit to each of our competitions on a team bus.

The Background

We like to consider synchro as a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics. Our routines consist of swimmers performing elaborate moves in the water while accompanied by music. We offer a novice program for those who are new to synchro, and a competitive stream for seasoned athletes.

Although gratefully supported by the Department of Athletics as a Competitive Club with modest grant money and reduced-cost pool time, our program still requires high membership fees, including the cost of transportation. This aspect of being a part of Ravens Synchro puts a heavy strain on our swimmers and can discourage athletes from returning to the sport they love; our mission is to eliminate this burden, and with your help we can send our hardworking athletes on the road to positively representing Carleton while accomplishing our goals!

The Rollout

Throughout our season we host several fundraisers on and off campus – this season, we plan on introducing a “Nationals Send Off Water Show” so that family and friends (and potential donors) can cheer us on before our big competition – for those who cannot attend our various events, we have decided to participate in this FutureFunder platform.

Last year, on our way to an out of town competition, some of our swimmers were involved in a car crash. These unfortunate circumstances hindered our performance as a team, and with our upcoming competitions quickly approaching, we need an alternative travel option.

This year, our competitions are being held at McMaster, McGill and Queens. All donations will go directly toward each of our swimmers bus fare, assuring their safety and allowing for team bonding.

The Benefits

Every donation supports the dedication of our swimmers in allowing them to represent Carleton as a club and be the best that they can be – by supporting our club, you are enhancing each and every one of our athletes’ student experience and supporting their goals by providing them with the means to achieve them.
