Gail Nicholls, a proud graduate and former Carleton Basketball varsity athlete, is devoted to helping the team become a perennial U Sports national contender. This is the second year she has agreed to match gifts to support the team.
Throughout all the U Sports conferences, competition is increasing as other varsity basketball programs improve. The Ravens’ budget, while competitive with other programs, is unable to cover all of the costs associated with running an elite U Sports institution and provide the competitive experience our athletes deserve.
We need additional funds to enhance practice and game performance, develop new leadership and recruitment opportunities and provide student-athletes with extra tools to attain and exceed academic goals.
Gaill will match every gift to the women’s basketball excellence fund made this season to a maximum of $50,000. (received before April 30, 2017)
It’s an incredibly generous offer to help our top women’s team sport to raise $50,000 this season. The money will be used to support all aspects of the Raven’s women’s basketball program with a focus on coaching support and non-conference travel opportunities.
You can make your one-time gift here on the FutureFunder. If you’d prefer, you can also make a monthly pledge at carleton.ca/giving or contact Paul Armstrong, senior development officer, at 613-520-2600 ext. 1158 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Payments pledged for the 2017-18 fiscal year will not appear on the FutureFunder automatically but will be added to the total.
Our varsity players benefit from new coaching and training initiatives, expanded opportunities for international competition, and meal funds for better nutritional options. The main priority of Coach Taffe Charles is to fund the hiring of a ful-time assistant coach. Other priorities include per diem top-up on rod triops, a training table and paying for tutors and mentor support.
