Law and Legal Studies 50th Anniversary Undergraduate Scholarship

Law and Legal Studies 50th Anniversary Undergraduate Scholarship

The Rundown

In 1967, the Department of Law and Legal Studies emerged as the first unit in Canada to study law within an interdisciplinary context. Since then, it has grown to offer the largest and most extensive undergraduate and graduate programs in legal studies in the country. In 2017, we celebrate not only Carleton University’s 75th anniversary, but the 50th anniversary of our department as well!

This project is a special campaign to raise scholarship funds in commemoration of the Department of Law and Legal Studies’ upcoming 50th anniversary.

The Background

Through the Law and Legal Studies 50th Anniversary Scholarship we hope to raise $5,000, to be awarded at $1000 per annum over five years, to a deserving student in an undergraduate Law program at Carleton University, proceeding from one year of study to the next.

The Rollout

An Awards Committee comprised of department faculty members will evaluate candidates who contribute to the standards in excellence and innovation on which our Department was built. Candidacy will be determined and evaluated based on:

(a) level of academic standing;
(b) commitment to education and advances in research;
(c) involvement in co-curricular activities

The Benefits

Your gift today will celebrate our rich 50 years of excellence in legal studies. More than this, it provides much-needed financial support that will allow bright and deserving law and legal studies students to flourish at a critical moment in their undergraduate careers.
