GRADitude 2018

The rundown

The Student Philanthropy Association (SPA), a group of current Carleton students seeking to promote a culture of philanthropy on campus is encouraging graduating students to show their GRADitude this convocation season.

How Can You Show Your GRADitude?
Are you grateful to your supportive parents? A professor who went the extra mile? Or a service like PASS that helped you keep your academics on track? The SPA is asking you to give back to your university in honour of the people who helped you earn your degree.

University is an exciting time. Students experience living on their own, get involved in clubs that they find meaningful, and find their passion through studying subjects they love – but what happens when a crisis occurs? When unexpected struggles impact a Raven’s ability to learn, Carleton wants to support them in their times of need, and can do just that through the Endowed Student Emergency Fund.

The Endowed Student Emergency Fund – What You Need to Know

  • The Endowed Student Emergency Fund was founded to give students monetary assistance in times of crisis.
  • Carleton’s Student Affairs office allocates the money based on need
  • As an endowment, this is a permanent university fund that will always be made available to students.
  • 100% of your donation goes to support this fund – and you will receive an official tax receipt too.

As a member of Carleton’s graduating class of 2018, why not make a donation of $20.18 both in honour of the people who supported your academic journey and to help out your fellow Ravens?

The SPA is made up of undergraduate Carleton students. We know that although university is an amazing time for growth and personal development, sometimes it can get stressful. Readings, assignments, part time jobs, and co-curricular activities are often a very delicate balance. When an emergency strikes, the financial burden is an additional stress that can upset this balance and prevent Ravens from soaring to their full potential. We are proud to champion the GRADitude campaign because we know it will go on to sustain the next generation of students for years to come.

No one deserves to feel alone in a time of need, and thanks to the Endowed Student Emergency Fund, our hope is that no Carleton student ever will. What better way to show your GRADitude to an inspirational professor or your supportive parents than by contributing to a cause that will make sure there is always help when Carleton students need it.

While we are proud to cast a spotlight on the Endowed Student Emergency Fund, we know that you may feel a special connection to another project on the FutureFunder, either through your own values or in honour of the individual(s) who you show GRADitude to. Feel free to browse through the many creative and innovative initiatives imagined by our students, faculty and alumni to decide where you would like to send your thanks.

Whether you donate to the Student Emergency Fund or you chose another area of financial need to support, please be sure to provide the contact information for where the tribute should be sent under “In Tribute” on the donation page. Please note that tributes (mail or email versions) will be sent to honourees the last week of May and the last week of June (based on when donation is received and processed).

With future graduates as part of this year’s Student Philanthropy Association, we are planning to show our GRADitude and we can’t wait to see how you will show yours!
