Our young men are driven to success in the classroom and on the field. Devoting countless hours to becoming better ambassadors of the University and towards furthering the legacy of our Ravens Soccer Program. To ensure focus was maintained in 2016 long standing coach Sandy Mackie lead the campaign to grow the men’s soccer bursary/scholarship and ensure that it is awarded annually to deserving students who comply with Usport/OUA academic requirements.
In 2016 the Soccer Chapter, using matching funds from Carleton University, worked with their alumni and team supporters to increase the Men’s Varsity Soccer Bursary’s endowment fund to over $75,000. With the support of our alumni, friends, supporters and family we are close to achieving our sustainable target of $100,000.
As a student athlete with commitments in academics and sport – many of our players sacrifice the ability to work. This bursary will not cover all the needs but will have an instrumental impact on their overall experience. By meeting our target amount our program will be able to draw from the funds annually to support our future ravens for years to come.
Our target of $15,000 will allow us to hit our mark, which would be an incredible feat for our program, and alumni. We hope to achieve our target on Giving Tuesday as donations on December 1 will be matched dollar-for-dollar on a first come, first served basis.
I hope we can come together to help support this initiative on behalf of our student athletes; so, they may continue to enjoy their University experience and continue to work towards being the best version of themselves
