Satheeskumar was a former president of the Carleton University Tamil Students Association (CUTSA) and was well rooted in the Tamil alumni group. He was like a glue that bonded a few of his alumni friends for roughly 18 years. By planting a tree and installing a bench on campus, his family and friends would have an opportunity to gather periodically to process their unforeseen loss at the very campus which built their friendships and charted their post academic life. His loving wife and two young children will have a lasting memorial to their beloved husband/father.
Carleton had a great impact on Satheeskumar and his friends. They have a lot of memories of Carleton and their lives were shaped by the university. Satheeskumar wanted something for people to sit and relax or find shade in (as if he was looking over). With so much nature at Carleton it is a fitting tribute to plant a tree and have a bench installed in his remembrance. His friends were all members and/or executives of CUTSA with Satheeskumar and felt that this was the best fit.
Funds will be used to install a bench and plant a tree as a tribute to Satheeskumar Sivasubramaniam.
This campaign will provide an opportunity to make a positive impact on a personal level to the family and friends of Satheeskumar to celebrate his life. Carleton was deeply rooted in Satheeskumar and this will serve as a beacon to his children as they grow up and chase their academic dreams. The Carleton student, the Tamil and migrant communities will look to this as an example of hardships and dreams being realized by a young immigrant.
