Overview
As a competitive club team, the Carleton Ravens Swim Team receives limited funds from Carleton. Thus, again this year, we look to our supporters and alumni to help the team succeed. The team relies on a successful Future Funder campaign on Giving Tuesday (November 28, 2023) to reduce the financial burden on the athletes and allow the team to excel in the pool as well as in the classroom.
The Background
The Ravens Swim Team is led by head coach, Nico Belisle. This year’s team has an unprecedented number of rookies, as well as a core of returning swimmers. The team competes in the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) Conference with two main competitions each season: The Boles Division Championships in November and the OUA Championships in February. In March, those who qualify attend the U Sports Championships.
The Rollout
The funds raised will go towards coach salaries, pool rental, team gear, and team travel to competitions.
The Impact
Last year’s funds allowed the team to travel to the Divisional Championships in St. Catharines and the OUA Championships in London. At Divisionals, the women placed second, and the men fourth. A OUAs, the men were seventh, and the women eighth. The highlights included Nicholas Scott receiving the OUA Men’s Community Service Award, and Cameron Teasdale being Carleton’s sole representative at the U Sports Championships.
With your support, Carleton Ravens Swimming will continue to succeed far into the future. As in the past, our athletes will continue to pursue both academic and athletic success, while enjoying their newfound freedom and responsibility as young student-athletes.
