The Ravens swim team is training enthusiastically under the guidance of head coach, Pierre Lafontaine. Pierre is now in his second year with the team and we have the largest swim team in recent memory, despite the ongoing COVID restrictions.
As a competitive club team, the funds provided by Carleton are limited, so we look to our supporters to help the team succeed. The team relies on a successful Future Funder campaign on Giving Tuesday (November 30, 2021) to reduce the financial burden on the athletes and allow the team to excel in the pool as well as in the classroom.
The funds raised will go towards coach salaries, pool rental, team gear, as well as team travel to competitions. After all “virtual” competitions last year, the team is excited for some in-person racing against other Ontario and Canadian teams this year!
Last year’s funds allowed the team to train between lockdowns, despite the increase in the cost of pool time per swimmer due to the COVID spacing requirements.
The funds raised two years ago enabled the team to have the first Florida training camp in over a decade. This contributed to the team’s success at OUAs. There were many personal best times set, and Carleton moved up in the standings.
With your support, Carleton Ravens Swimming will continue to succeed far into the future. As in the past, our athletes will continue to pursue both academic and athletic success, while enjoying their newfound freedom and responsibility as young student-athletes.
