Overview
Led by the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nations, Carleton University’s Athletics Department, and The Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement, you can support the Indigenous Student Emergency Fund by purchasing an Orange Shirt here or by making a donation directly on this page.
Designed by Patrick Tenasco from Kitigan Zibi, the Orange Shirts feature artwork that represents the bravery, truth and strength of residential school survivors. All shirts have been printed by Diamond Phoenix Creations —a First Nations-owned and operated business from Kitigan Zibi that offers custom apparel and promotional items. We are grateful for the support of the Algonquin Anishinabeg community who were integral in launching this initiative, and to the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement for their ongoing consultations.
The Rollout
All donations made to the Indigenous Student Emergency Fund will go directly towards providing financial support to Indigenous students at Carleton who require immediate funding for essential expenses. These emergency expenses may include rent, childcare, prescription medications, groceries, textbooks and/or supplies, among others. All requests for funding will be managed on a confidential basis through the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement.
