At the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement, we support First Nation (Status and Non-Status), Métis and Inuit students, staff and faculty at Carleton by providing culturally safe spaces for dialogue and learning. We do this by nurturing a sense of belonging for Indigenous students, and by developing and delivering resources and training to educate the greater Carleton community about the experiences, histories and world views of Indigenous Peoples.

Inspired by the generous community support on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation through sales of the Orange Shirt, designed by Patrick Tenasco from Kitigan Zibi, we are continuing our efforts to raise funds for the Indigenous Student Emergency Fund. This fund will provide meaningful support to Indigenous students at Carleton and help reduce barriers they may experience in their pursuit of higher education.

The Rollout

All donations made to the Indigenous Student Emergency Fund will go directly towards providing financial support to Indigenous students at Carleton who require immediate funding for essential expenses. These emergency expenses may include rent, childcare, prescription medications, groceries, textbooks and/or supplies, among others. All requests for funding will be managed on a confidential basis through the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement.
