Carleton University’s Canada-India Centre for Excellence in partnership with Carleton International offers Carleton students a 2-week study program in India. The India Study Tour gives students firsthand experience of the cultural and business practices of one of the world’s oldest civilizations and fastest growing large economies.
We are asking for support in order to ensure that our students have the fullest experience possible on the upcoming trip, by helping us cover various costs for those who cannot afford the full price of the trip.
We are also asking for support to guarantee that we can continue to offer this enriching experience to Carleton students in the future.
India has the fastest growing economy in the world. Within a few years, with two-thirds of its citizens under the age of 35, it will also have the youngest population on the planet.
The current generation of Indian university students — fluent in English and focused on entrepreneurship, technology and innovation — will increasingly compete with Canadians in the global market.
The overarching goal of the India Study Tour is to help Canadian youth develop a deeper understanding of India’s culture and economy, and get to know their peers on the other side of the planet, so that they will be able to tap into business, employment and partnership opportunities that reflect the new global reality.
We are hoping to raise 5,000. The cost of the trip is 2,500, which includes airfare, accommodations, local transportation, meals, entrance fees and guided tours. In years past a few students have withdrawn because of financial concerns. We would like to create a fund to ensure that we can continue to offer this opportunity by giving interested students, who are in need, financial support.
Students incur the full cost of this trip along will any incidental costs that arise during their time in India. This fund will also ensure that students can make the most of their time there by giving them extra financial support so that they can take partake in any unexpected opportunities that may arise.
This tour combines an immersive cultural experience with academic sessions which are an excellent opportunity for Carleton students to enrich their educational experience.
The tour will also help Canadian youth develop a deeper understanding of India’s culture and economy, providing them with the opportunity to get to know their peers on the other side of the planet, so that they will be able to tap into business, employment and partnership opportunities that reflect the new global reality.
