Foot Patrol offers safe walks, the Walk and Talk service, event safety support through Foot
Patrol event teams and the Guardian Program, and the Borrow a First Aid Kit service to the
Carleton community. Our volunteers are dedicated to ensuring all members of the Carleton
community feel comfortable at and heading home from Carleton’s campus, events, and anywhere
in the greater Ottawa region in the evenings.
We offer a variety of free items to members of the Carleton community to support that goal. Among our current supply are our mini first aid kits and our electronic whistles, enabling students to further ensure their own comfort and safety. As part of our ongoing goal to expand our offerings, we’d like to add rechargeable battery packs to that list!
Foot Patrol first considered obtaining rechargeable battery packs in Fall 2017, with the start of our Walk and Talk service. We wanted to ensure students could always call to request our services, regardless of their phone’s battery status! Unfortunately, rechargeable battery packs have continued to remain beyond our budget, as our recent budget increase has been focused on meeting other objectives. Therefore, we’ve decided to make a FutureFunder to support this goal!
Funds raised will be used for a one-time purchase of 1000 rechargeable battery packs for the Carleton University community. If successful, students will be able to drop by our office or any of our weekly tabling sessions to pick up a battery pack!
Battery packs will be purchased as soon as the FutureFunder has been completed. Meeting our goal will cover approximately 90% of the purchase cost with the remainder funded by Foot Patrol! If we don’t reach our goal, we’ll purchase a smaller number of batteries. Therefore, every donation will help us achieve our objective!
Purchasing rechargeable battery packs will allow all students to use our Walk and Talk service, regardless of their location! Donations will also ensure students have a backup option to remain connected in any situation, including emergencies.
