The Carleton Ravens Figure Skating Competitive Club is looking to fundraise $5000 for various competition costs, including new competitions dresses for the 2019-2020 competition season. Our team is made up of full time student-athletes that train four times each week out of the Carleton University Ice House. All athletes are dedicated full time students that have made the commitment to attend 6:30am practices and to stay involved in the sport of figure skating through the Carleton Ravens Figure Skating Team.
This season, we have the honour of hosting the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Fall Invitational Figure Skating Competition on November 21, 2019 on campus. We are very much hoping to purchase a new set of team dresses that will be worn on competition ice for the Fall Invitational and for events & competitions to follow. Our previous set of competition dresses have been with the team since the 2014-2015 season and we are needing an update! In addition to team dresses, competition costs for the season include safe travel via bus for our athletes to and from competitions, as well as providing comfortable overnight accommodations for competitions that are outside of the Ottawa area.
As the other OUA figure skating competitions are in the Toronto & Southern Ontario during the winter months, coach bus travel is a priority. We are inspired daily by our athletes’ determination and investment in the sport and want to provide you with the opportunity to assist in our fundraising goals to ensure that it is feasible for all athletes to arrive at competitions safely, rested, and ready to compete to the best of their ability representing Carleton University.
As a team, we wish to encourage Carleton University students to continue their passion in figure skating alongside excelling in their academic studies. We believe that exercise and learning to work together as a team are key aspects to maintaining a healthy, well rounded lifestyle as a student. We are proud to represent Carleton at our OUA competitions and it shows in our skaters’ drive and energy during their performances. There is a large financial investment required of each athlete on the figure skating team; many team members hold part time employment to support this cost along with being a full time student.
Fundraising for the team is essential in helping to offset a portion of the competitive season costs and fundraising is heavily relied on by many of our athletes to be able to continue skating. We have had great success with the Future Funder platform in previous years, and we hope to gain your support again for the 2019-2020 competitive season so that we are able to train, attend, and arrive safely at all of our OUA competitions.
The Carleton Ravens Figure Skating Competitive Club is aiming to raise $5000 which will be used toward the 2019-2020 season’s competition entry fees, bus transportation, accommodations and hopefully, a new set of team dresses. While many of our competitive season costs are large investments, elements such as a team bus is essential for the safety of our athletes and coaches, especially during our winter competitions where the roads are the most dangerous. We need your help through Future Funder to make this competitive season feasible for our athletes!
Your contribution will not only impact the team’s success as a whole, but the personal success of each student-athlete. Your help will reduce financial stress of each individual athlete and allow all team members to focus on training to the best of their abilities while maintaining a good academic standing. You are an essential component to the success of the Figure Skating Team’s 2019-2020 competitive season!
