Join us on December 1, 2020 for Carleton University’s 8th annual Giving Tuesday! For donations that are not related to Ally sponsorship, please make your contribution through the following page.

Giving Tuesday is the global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As the “opening day of the giving season”, it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for meaningful causes.

As part of the Carleton University community, Efficiency Canada will benefit from the generosity of our donors AND the university, as Carleton University will be matching donations dollar-for-dollar on a first come, first served basis that are made to Efficiency Canada on December 1st.

Of note, many external organizations will fund-match donations made on Giving Tuesday, meaning a donation made to Efficiency Canada on December 1st could be double-matched! We encourage you to ask your employer for their Giving Tuesday policy.

The Background

Efficiency Canada is an operating unit of the Carleton Sustainable Energy Research Centre, a cross-disciplinary initiative between the School of Public Policy and Administration and the Faculty of Engineering and Design. We are the national voice for an energy efficient economy. Our mission is to create a sustainable environment and better life for all Canadians by making our country a global leader in energy efficiency policy, technology, and jobs. We conduct rigorous policy analysis; communicate compelling narratives; and convene and mobilize Canada’s dynamic energy efficiency sector.

The Rollout

Efficiency Canada convenes people from across Canada’s economy to work together to advance policies required to take full advantage of energy efficiency. We communicate the best research out there to build a more productive economy, sustainable environment, and socially-just Canada. Your support will help Efficiency Canada continue our collaborative framework at Carleton by bringing together a diverse network of academic researchers, private-sector businesses, utilities and governments. Our work at Carleton is an integral part of moving toward a more energy-efficient future, as we work together towards shaping and implementing new policies.

The Impact

According to a report by the International Energy Agency, the right energy efficiency policies could enable the world to achieve more than 40% of the emissions cuts needed to reach Paris Agreement targets. Your financial contribution will directly aid in moving our nation towards a more robust energy efficient economy, and lower GHG emissions. Specifically, you’ll be contributing towards the following efforts:

  • Ongoing advocacy work at the federal and provincial level
  • National, regional & local convening to advance energy efficiency as a sound public policy
  • Research to support the creation of a national scorecard and other best-practices
  • National communication campaigns on the benefits of energy efficiency
  • Media relations that support the case for an energy efficient economy
