It is no secret that 2020 has been an extraordinarily challenging year for everyone, students included.
In October, Carleton University Students’ Association started a $40,000 Hardship Fund to help undergraduate students who are experiencing a variety of challenges and setbacks from food insecurity to needing technology to study remotely to struggling to pay rent and a wide variety of other hardships.
We were astonished at the response to this fund and within 3 weeks, it has become almost depleted. There is still 6 months until the end of the Winter term and we are all aware that once winter sets in, students will feel even more isolated, alone and facing even more hardship.
We realize that sometimes applying for funds like this can be sensitive to some, so we have designed the process it so only one full time staff member at CUSA sees the name and then provides only details of the application to a committee comprised of CUSA executives, staff and Councillors. We want to make the process as easy as possible so students can concentrate on their academic pursuits.
We are seeking donations to this fund and CUSA will match whatever is raised, with 100% of all proceeds of the fund going directly to students.
We are all Ravens united, even if we are all at a distance! We hope that you will consider donating to this much needed initiative and appreciate every contribution we receive..
The CUSA Hardship Fund is to directly help undergraduate students who are experiencing a variety of challenges and setbacks from food insecurity to needing technology to study remotely to struggling to pay rent and a wide variety of other hardships.
100% of the funds are dispersed directly to undergraduates students via an anonymous and confidential process.
This fund will have an immediate and direct impact on students who are experiencing various hardships and challenges in the 2020/2021 academic year.
