Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR) is the longest running engineering competition in Canada. Every year, schools from across North America compete in a unique design competition where they must create a 5 person toboggan with concrete running surfaces, steel superstructure, braking and steering. This competition is a great opportunity for students from different engineering streams to collaborate, apply what they have learnt in their classes and network with students and industry professionals.
Funding for our project is critical to its success. By choosing to support Carleton GNCTR, you will be providing a hard working group of students with invaluable engineering project experience to excel in their craft. It also provides an opportunity for students to connect with one another and make new friendships to help foster mentorship and teamwork. There are many reasons why this is an impactful program to support, but the central reason would be to provide a safe space for everyone to feel at home in their environment and meet people whom will share close bonds for years to come.
This year, our team of 28 members will be traveling to the 5-day competition in Toronto, Ontario. The funds will not only help us cover registration , accommodation and travel costs, but will also help fund our design and construction process. By supporting this fund, you are helping to offset costs to ensure that this initiative is as financially accessible as possible.
